Description

These Steakhouse Garlic Butter Mushrooms are rich, savory, and full of umami flavor. Sautéed with garlic, herbs, and butter, they’re the perfect steakhouse-style side dish. Ready in just 20 minutes, these tender mushrooms pair beautifully with steak, chicken, or pasta.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb whole cremini or white button mushrooms, cleaned
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 34 cloves garlic, minced
  • 12 sprigs fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Splash of white wine or broth (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium-high heat.
  • Add whole mushrooms and let them cook undisturbed for 2–3 minutes to brown.
  • Stir and continue cooking for 8–10 minutes, until mushrooms release moisture and begin to caramelize.
  • Add garlic and herbs, cooking for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Deglaze the pan with a splash of wine or broth (if using) and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Finish with chopped parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • For added flavor, stir in a splash of balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, or a spoonful of cream or Parmesan.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a subtle heat.
  • Best made with whole mushrooms for maximum flavor and texture.
  • Avoid overcrowding the pan for proper browning.
