These Soft No Knead Dinner Rolls are fluffy, buttery, and incredibly easy to make with no kneading required. Perfect for holidays, family dinners, or anytime you crave warm, homemade bread.
Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast (or active dry yeast, proofed)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup melted butter (plus more for brushing)
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together warm water, warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes if using active dry yeast, until foamy.
- Add egg, melted butter, salt, and flour. Stir with a spoon until a sticky dough forms.
- Cover the bowl and let dough rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours, until doubled in size.
- Grease hands and divide dough into 12 equal portions. Shape into balls and place in a greased baking dish.
- Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes, until puffy.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush rolls with melted butter.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, until golden brown.
- Brush tops with more butter immediately after baking for a soft, shiny finish.
Notes
- Substitute part of the flour with whole wheat for a heartier roll.
- Add herbs or garlic powder for extra flavor.
- Use honey instead of sugar for a touch of sweetness.
- Stuff with cheese or sausage for a savory variation.
- Freeze baked rolls for up to 2 months; reheat directly from frozen.
