Description
Salmon & Pea Pasta is a creamy, one-pan pasta dish made with flaked salmon, sweet green peas, and a light cream sauce. It’s quick, comforting, and perfect for weeknight dinners in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- 12 oz pasta (penne, fusilli, or preferred shape)
- 1 salmon fillet, cooked and flaked
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 shallot or 1/4 onion, finely chopped
- 3/4 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh dill or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook pasta in salted water until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain.
- Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté garlic and shallot until soft and fragrant.
- Add peas and cook until heated through, about 3 minutes.
- Pour in cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in Parmesan, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
- Add flaked salmon and gently warm through.
- Add pasta to the skillet and toss with sauce. Use reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh dill or parsley and an extra squeeze of lemon if desired.
Notes
- Use smoked or canned salmon for convenience and variety.
- Swap peas with spinach, broccoli, or asparagus as alternatives.
- For a dairy-free version, use plant-based cream and vegan Parmesan.
- Adjust creaminess by adding pasta water gradually.
- Great for leftovers and meal prep—reheats well with a splash of liquid.
