This Quick & Simple Donut Recipe makes soft, fluffy donuts without yeast. Perfectly golden and customizable with glazes or sugar, they come together in under 30 minutes for a fast, delicious treat.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Oil, for frying
- Optional: powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, chocolate glaze, vanilla glaze
Instructions
- Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients to form a soft, slightly sticky dough.
- Lightly flour a surface, roll dough to 1/2 inch thick, and cut out donut shapes.
- Fry a few donuts at a time for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
- Once slightly cooled, coat with glaze or sugar as desired.
Notes
- Add nutmeg or cinnamon to the dough for extra flavor.
- Make mini donuts or donut holes for variety.
