Description
Pizza Grilled Cheese combines the gooey, crispy comfort of grilled cheese with the bold flavors of pizza. Filled with melty mozzarella, marinara, and toppings like pepperoni, it’s a quick, satisfying twist on two classic favorites.
Ingredients
- 4 slices bread (sourdough, Italian, or sandwich)
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded or sliced
- 1/4 cup marinara or pizza sauce
- 12 pepperoni slices (or other toppings)
- 2 tbsp butter or olive oil (for grilling)
- 2 tbsp grated Parmesan (optional)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)
Instructions
- Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. Mix in Parmesan and Italian seasoning if using.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place one slice, butter-side down, in the skillet.
- Layer with mozzarella, a spoonful of marinara, pepperoni, more cheese, and the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
- Grill 3–4 minutes until golden, then flip and grill another 2–3 minutes until the cheese is melted and both sides are crisp.
- Let rest 1 minute before slicing. Serve with extra marinara for dipping.
Notes
- Swap mozzarella with provolone, cheddar, or a cheese mix.
- Use cooked sausage, mushrooms, or olives for different flavors.
- Try garlic bread or add crushed red pepper for extra punch.
- Make it veggie with spinach, tomatoes, and bell peppers.
