Description

This Homemade Mexican Pizza is a bold, cheesy fusion of tacos and pizza, made with crispy tortillas, seasoned meat, refried beans, and melty cheese. Baked until golden and topped with fresh ingredients, it’s an easy 30-minute dinner that’s fun, customizable, and way better than takeout. Perfect for weeknights, game days, or taco night with a twist!

Ingredients

  • 8 flour tortillas (8-inch size)
  • 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
  • 2 tbsp taco seasoning
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 can refried beans
  • ½ cup salsa or enchilada sauce
  • 1½ cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • ¼ cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Sour cream, for topping
  • Oil, for brushing or frying tortillas

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. In a skillet, brown the ground meat. Drain excess fat.

  3. Stir in taco seasoning and water; simmer until meat is coated and flavorful.

  4. In a separate pan, warm the refried beans.

  5. Brush tortillas lightly with oil and bake or pan-fry until golden and crispy on both sides.

  6. Spread a layer of refried beans on one tortilla, top with seasoned meat, then place another crispy tortilla on top.

  7. Spread salsa or enchilada sauce over the top tortilla, then sprinkle with cheese.

  8. Bake pizzas for 8–10 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.

  9. Remove from oven and top with diced tomatoes, olives, green onions, and sour cream.

  10. Slice and serve hot.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, use sautéed veggies, black beans, or extra refried beans instead of meat.
  • Add jalapeños, chipotle sauce, or hot sauce for extra spice.
  • Use rotisserie chicken tossed in taco seasoning for a quick shortcut.
  • For extra crispiness, pre-bake or air-fry tortillas before layering.
