Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- ¾ cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- ½ cup sweetened condensed milk (plus extra for brushing, optional)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 large egg
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- ½ tsp salt
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, condensed milk, egg, and the activated yeast mixture.
- Knead the dough by hand or mixer until smooth, then add softened butter and knead until fully incorporated and elastic (8–10 minutes).
- Cover and let the dough rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf or rolls, and place it in a greased loaf pan or baking dish.
- Let it rise again for 30–45 minutes, until puffy.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush the top with egg wash or extra condensed milk.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
Add a splash of vanilla or a dash of cinnamon for extra flavor.
Fill with cream cheese or jam for a twist.
Drizzle warm bread with condensed milk for a richer finish.
Use bread flour for a chewier crumb, or all-purpose flour for soft texture.
