Ingredients
- 6 oz pasta of choice (fettuccine, spaghetti, or linguine)
- 1–2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes
- Optional garnish: chopped fresh parsley, lemon zest
Instructions
- Cook pasta in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and reserve ½ cup pasta water.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
- Pour in heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Stir in Parmesan until melted and sauce thickens slightly.
- Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Toss in cooked pasta and add reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce.
- Garnish with parsley and lemon zest, if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Add cooked chicken, shrimp, mushrooms, or spinach for a heartier dish.
- Use half-and-half or milk for a lighter version (add a little flour or cheese to help thicken).
- Best served fresh but can be stored and gently reheated with a splash of cream or milk.
- Avoid overheating or the sauce may separate.
