Cinnamon Donut Bread is a quick, cake-like loaf that mimics the flavor and texture of an old-fashioned cinnamon sugar donut, finished with a sweet, buttery crust and perfect for cozy breakfasts or snacks.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sour cream or plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- For topping:
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar mixed with 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a standard loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, milk, sour cream, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring until just mixed—do not overmix.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool for 10 minutes, then brush with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
- Let cool completely before slicing or serve slightly warm.
Notes
- Use Greek yogurt or buttermilk as a substitute for sour cream.
- Add a cinnamon sugar swirl for extra flavor by layering and swirling before baking.
- Use brown sugar for a deeper, caramel flavor.
