Description

Cinnamon Donut Bread is a quick, cake-like loaf that mimics the flavor and texture of an old-fashioned cinnamon sugar donut, finished with a sweet, buttery crust and perfect for cozy breakfasts or snacks.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • For topping:
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar mixed with 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a standard loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, milk, sour cream, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring until just mixed—do not overmix.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool for 10 minutes, then brush with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
  8. Let cool completely before slicing or serve slightly warm.

Notes

  • Use Greek yogurt or buttermilk as a substitute for sour cream.
  • Add a cinnamon sugar swirl for extra flavor by layering and swirling before baking.
  • Use brown sugar for a deeper, caramel flavor.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg or a glaze topping for variation.
  • Recipe can be doubled or baked in mini loaf pans (adjust baking time accordingly).
