Ingredients
- 4 black tea bags
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup cherry juice or strained cherry pie filling
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen cherries
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional)
- 2–4 tbsp sugar or honey (to taste)
- Ice
- Mint sprigs or lemon slices (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Bring water to a boil and steep black tea bags for 5–7 minutes. Remove tea bags and let cool to room temperature.
- In a small saucepan, simmer cherries with 1–2 tbsp sugar and a splash of water until softened and syrupy, about 5–10 minutes. Strain to make cherry syrup.
- Stir cherry syrup or cherry juice into cooled tea. Add vanilla extract, lemon juice if using, and adjust sweetness to taste.
- Chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
- Serve over ice and garnish with cherries, mint, or lemon slices if desired.
Notes
- Use green tea or hibiscus for a lighter or floral twist.
- Add sparkling water for a fizzy version.
- For a cocktail, add a shot of vodka or bourbon.
- Use frozen cherries or cherry-tea ice cubes to avoid watering down.
- Store in fridge for up to 3 days and stir before serving.
