Description

Cheese Bread is a quick and savory loaf filled with melted cheese and optional herbs, perfect as a side for soups, a base for sandwiches, or a warm snack on its own.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder or Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese blend)
  • 2 tbsp chopped chives or parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a standard loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and seasoning if using.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, milk, and melted butter until smooth.
  4. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir just until combined.
  5. Fold in shredded cheese and herbs, if using.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan, smooth the top, and sprinkle with extra cheese.
  7. Bake for 45–50 minutes, until golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool or serve warm.

Notes

  • Add bacon, jalapeños, or other mix-ins for variation.
  • Use different cheeses like mozzarella, gouda, or parmesan for flavor variety.
  • Make muffins instead by baking in a muffin tin for 15–18 minutes at 350°F.
  • Use self-rising flour and omit baking powder and salt if preferred.
  • Wrap tightly and freeze for longer storage.
