Description

Cake Mix Toffee Bars are chewy, buttery dessert bars made with a yellow cake mix base, layered with chocolate chips and crunchy toffee bits. They’re quick, easy, and perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow or butter cake mix
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup toffee bits (e.g., Heath bits)
  • Optional: 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract (if using) to form a thick dough.
  3. Press dough evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle chocolate chips and toffee bits over the dough. Add chopped nuts if desired.
  5. Gently press toppings into the dough.
  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until edges are golden and center is set.
  7. Let bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • Swap yellow cake mix for chocolate, spice, or red velvet for variation.
  • Top with a drizzle of caramel or a sprinkle of sea salt for extra flavor.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temp or freeze for longer storage.
