Description

Baked French Dip Biscuits combine savory roast beef, melty Swiss cheese, and flaky biscuits into a fun, handheld twist on the classic French dip sandwich, served with a rich and flavorful au jus dipping sauce.

Ingredients

  • For the Biscuits:
  • 8 store-bought or homemade biscuits
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional, for topping)
  • For the Filling:
  • 3/4 lb roast beef, thinly sliced
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese (or 1 cup shredded)
  • 1 small onion, sliced and caramelized (optional)
  • For the Au Jus Sauce:
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake biscuits according to package or homemade recipe instructions. Let cool slightly, then slice in half horizontally.
  2. Make Au Jus: In a small saucepan, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes, then set aside.
  3. Assemble Sandwiches: Layer roast beef and Swiss cheese (and caramelized onions if using) on bottom halves of the biscuits. Top with remaining biscuit halves and press gently.
  4. Second Bake: Place assembled biscuits on a baking sheet. Sprinkle tops with shredded mozzarella if desired. Bake for 5–7 minutes, until cheese is melted and tops are golden.
  5. Serve: Serve warm with au jus sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Swap roast beef for turkey, chicken, or pulled pork for variation.
  • Add horseradish to the au jus or red pepper flakes for a kick.
  • Brush biscuit tops with garlic butter before baking for added flavor.
  • Use provolone, cheddar, or mozzarella instead of Swiss cheese if preferred.
  • Store leftovers in fridge up to 2 days; reheat in foil at 350°F for 10 minutes.
